Names of Christ
$10.50
Everybody has a great name, great people, little people, rich and poor, educated or not. The most important Person in the universe is our Lord Jesus Christ, and He has the greatest names of all. The Bible tells us many of these names, and we will consider some of them in this Book.
Introduction
Parents of a newborn face a difficult task: What name shall they give to their little baby? They search through books of names, speaking the names out loud to hear how they sound. They research the meanings of the names and learn the historical importance they may have. It becomes even more difficult when the parents discover many names that seem like good candidates.
Imagine, for a moment, a set of parents who narrow down the list to, letâs say, 300 or so, of their favorite names. Rather than selecting one or two of them, the parents declare: âLetâs use them all!â Clearly, this would create problems for both the child and the parents (especially each time they were required to fill out forms on the childâs behalf!)
We turn, now, to a Person who is the owner of more than 300 names. These names were not meant to be strung together all at once. No, they have been revealed like special treasures, one at a time, throughout the pages of Scripture and throughout the centuries of time. Each name is a diamond in itself and worthy of quiet and careful consideration. Each name flashes before us a certain aspect of this Personâs character and accomplishments. Each name leads the person pondering it to high and holy ground where only one response will do: Worship.
This book is a treasure trove that contains only forty of these glorious names belonging to the one and only Lord Jesus Christ. In this classic book by Dr. Harlow, the author provides a brief overview of these names, their meanings and their historical or prophetic importance. In this newly revised edition, we have also included excerpts by other Bible teachers that will help you âmediate on His Nameâ (Mal. 3:16).
