Diploma Program FAQ

Q. Is the Emmaus Associate Diploma in Biblical Studies, or the full Diploma in Biblical Studies, accredited or transferable to other academic institutions?

A. No, our Diplomas are neither accredited nor transferable to other academic institutions.

WHY NOT? Our focus is not merely academic, nor an “official piece of paper,” nor a man-issued “qualification,” but rather our desire is to see followers of the Lord Jesus Christ motivated to “study to show themselves approved unto God.” We aim with the Lord’s help, to be a means of supplying such motivation & encouragement by providing a program of disciplined, structured study with built-in accountability and feed-back. Worldwide, millions of people have already benefited from the help of Emmaus Courses in their personal study and ministry to others!

Q. Why do an Emmaus Canada Diploma?

A. When you do Emmaus courses , you are not just “purchasing courses!” You will be given much more than self-study or a seminar, book, commentary or study guide can offer. Emmaus Correspondence Centre, Canada, provides motivation, follow-up, personalized services, and the counsel of a personal instructor/ tutor who has a continuing interest in your spiritual growth and progress. And you will be prayed for regularly!

Your instructor is readily available to answer questions, give explanations, assistance & encouragement. Come join the ranks of many other Christians worldwide who have benefited from this method of studying God’s Word! Leading educators recognize study by correspondence as an effective method of learning. Students frequently achieve better results from home study than through classroom instruction. It has been shown that students often experience a greater degree of retention of material studied through correspondence than through other means. An Emmaus Bible correspondence course is not a substitute for the Word of God, but rather a helpful tool that leads the student, a step at a time, into some of the great truths of scripture. Through the examination technique, it seeks a response, enabling the student to express themselves and the instructor to evaluate the student’s needs and respond in turn with appropriate counsel or instruction.  There are other advantages, too. Home study is convenient; the students arrange the study to suit their own schedule. Home study is inexpensive; there is no loss of earnings or expensive tuition and living costs that are associated with being a resident student.

Q. What is the ultimate goal of the Emmaus Diploma program?

A. Our goal is – ” As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”(Col 2:6-10 NKJV)

At Emmaus Correspondence Centre, Canada our mandate is distinctively, unashamedly focussed on the truth, inerrancy, inspiration, authority & sufficiency of God’s Word over & above all else.  Our aim is simply to directly ‘get people into the Word’ for themselves, because we firmly believe that 2 Tim 3:16-17 teaches that the Bible is sufficient for “doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Likewise, 2 Peter 1 says “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

(2Pe 1:2-4 NKJV)

Q. Is the cost for the Diploma program tax deductible?

A.  Unfortunately not.

Q. Do I have to be in agreement with Emmaus’ Statement of Faith in order to enrol in the Diploma Program or do individual Emmaus courses?

A. It is not a prerequisite to be in agreement with our statement of faith in order to take courses or sign up for the diploma. However, you should be aware up front that obviously our doctrinal position will permeate our material, and to answer the exams correctly requires drawing directly from the course material taught.
