Timoteo y Tito

This course is for two kinds of people.  First, it is for those who know little or nothing about the Bible, but who would like to become familiar with this Book of all Books. Many people want to study the Bible but get discouraged because of the size of the Book and their ignorance of what it is all about. They feel that if they had a general summary of the story, they would be able to read and understand it.

Second, it is for those who are familiar with individual Bible incidents, but who do not know how to piece them together or fit them into the historical background. Many know the stories of David and Goliath and Daniel in the Lion’s Den but do not know the time or location of the incidents.  This course will help fit the stories together.

The course can only cover the main events and what might be called the mountain-peaks of the Bible.  After completing this course, the student may want to continue with the more detailed overviews of the Old Testament and New Testament described in the Bible Overviews section of the website.

Estas cartas de Pablo se dirigen al tema del cuidado pastoral para con la iglesia local y los individuales. Se presentan el gobierno de la iglesia local y los requisitos de ancianos y diáconos. En su segundo viaje misionero, Pablo encontró a Timoteo en Lystra, y decidió llevar a Timoteo consigo como un miembro del grupo misionero, tras su encomendación por los hermanos en Lystra e Iconio. Timoteo llegó a ser uno de los compañeros más íntimos de Pablo, y Pablo dirigió dos de sus tres cartas pastorales a él. Pablo dio a Timoteo las primeras instrucciones en cuanto al orden en la iglesia local, los requisitos de los líderes en la iglesia local y la necesidad de enseñar la verdad. Tito acompañó a Pablo y Bernabé como una parte de la delegación a Jerusalén para solucionar problemas que habían surgido a causa de actitudes legalistas. Después de la liberación de Pablo de su primer encarcelamiento en Roma, fue junto con Tito a Creta, y Pablo le dejó a Tito allí para “que corrigieses lo deficiente, y establecieses ancianos en cada ciudad”.
